Comment on Infill Development
In August 2014, City Council adopted a series of development standards and guidelines to address an upsurge in new residential construction, renovations and additions taking place in several established neighborhoods in the city. The goal of the Single-Family Residential Infill Standards was to maintain the character and integrity of the neighborhoods while allowing growth and promoting good infill development.
Public input and engagement, including a citizen task force, were instrumental in the development of the original residential infill standards, as well as subsequent modifications, and the City is again enlisting the public’s help. An 11-member citizen review committee is currently working with City staff to evaluate the effectiveness of the existing residential infill standards and recommend improvements.
As part of that process, the City is launching the first of a series of short surveys to determine how residents and community stakeholders view infill development in residential areas today.
The survey is available online and the deadline to participate is Friday, July 10 at 5 p.m. Paper copies of the survey are also available. For more information, contact Kris Kurjiaka, Development Planner, at 864-467-3238 or email@example.com.
